Visual Artist: T-Shirts and Cookies and Multi-media
I'm not just a Nature Journaler. I have for years explored many ways to make visual art. Most of my art leans toward nature subjects. Most of my art is traditional, but I have also used computer generated bits in various projects.
T-shirt Prints
I have made many one-of-a-kind T-shirt prints. The designs could be though of as "artist proofs", the stencils are designed on a computer and printed on freezer-paper, hand-cut, then use special fabric paint to print (silk-screen type style) on t-shirt material. Not only making t-shirts as gifts for family members, but I've made entire quilts from my own designs to create hand-printed t-shirt blocks and assembled into quilts. It takes a long time to make a t-shirt quilt from blocks I design and print, then sew into a quilt. <t-shirt quilt link to be added soon>
"Lab Adore" Quilt
- Quilt top is made from the back of recycled T-shirts. There are 68 “art” blocks in the quilt
- Photos were printed on the fabric using an ink jet printer, using a labor intensive process to make the images colorfast.
- The images are hand-painted with hand-cut freezer paper stencils and fabric paint. Other fabric painting techniques, including fabric markers, were used.
